DRAFT — pending legal counsel review. This is a working draft prepared by the CelebIsland team. It has not been reviewed by qualified legal counsel, is not final, and may change. Items marked [COUNSEL TO CONFIRM] are open questions for counsel.

1. Scope

This policy applies to every paid placement on CelebIsland: boosted posts and pages, sponsored content, campaign ads, ads shown inside Airwave and Celeb TV, and lead-generation campaigns.

2. Ad review

All ads may be reviewed — automatically, manually or both — before and while they run. Approval of an ad does not mean CelebIsland endorses the advertiser. We can reject or stop any ad that breaks this policy.

3. Prohibited ads

  • Illegal products or services; anything prohibited in the Marketplace Terms.
  • Fraudulent, deceptive or misleading claims, including "get rich quick", guaranteed-returns investment schemes, and fake endorsements by public figures.
  • Unlicensed financial services, lending, cryptocurrency or forex offers. [COUNSEL TO CONFIRM: SEC Nigeria / CBN rules for financial promotions.]
  • Unlicensed gambling or betting. [COUNSEL TO CONFIRM: licensing evidence required from betting advertisers.]
  • Tobacco, vaping, weapons and recreational drugs.
  • Adult sexual content.
  • Discriminatory content or targeting.
  • Ads that exploit personal hardship or use shock content.

4. Restricted ads

These may run only with prior approval and evidence of any required licence: alcohol (adults only), pharmaceuticals and health products, dating services, political and issue ads, education and certification claims, and weight-loss products.

5. Political and issue ads

[COUNSEL TO CONFIRM: whether political ads will be accepted at all; if so, required "paid for by" disclaimers, identity verification of the sponsor, and an ad-archive obligation.]

6. Targeting

  • Ads may be targeted only by country, gender, age range, placement (where on CelebIsland the ad appears) and run dates. CelebIsland does not currently offer interest-based or behavioural targeting. A campus field can be entered on campaign ad sets but is informational only and is not used to restrict who sees an ad.
  • Ads may not be targeted at people under 18 for restricted categories, and may not target based on sensitive characteristics such as health, religion, ethnicity or sexual orientation.
  • Targeting must comply with the Privacy Policy.

7. Landing pages and lead forms

Landing pages must match the ad, work properly, and not contain malware. Lead-generation forms must clearly state who is collecting the data and why, and leads must be used only for that purpose.

8. Billing

Ad spend is charged under the Payments Terms. Boost spend is not refundable once delivery has started, except where delivery failed through our fault (see the Refund Policy).

9. Enforcement

We may remove ads, suspend ad accounts and withhold unspent budget connected to fraud.
