Every student on this platform should learn one of these three skills

Not because they are trendy. Because they pay within ninety days and you can learn them on a phone.

I keep seeing the same question in the groups: what should I learn? Here is my honest answer, and I am deliberately naming only three, because a list of twenty is how people learn nothing.

1. Cybersecurity fundamentals

Not because you will become a hacker. Because every organisation in Nigeria is now getting hit, and almost none of them have anyone who understands the basics. The entry roles — SOC analyst, IT support with security duties, compliance — do not require a first class. They require certificates you can study for on a phone and a portfolio of things you have actually configured.

2. Practical AI tooling

Not "prompt engineering" as a job title — that is already thinning out. I mean being the person in a small business who can cut a week of work down to a day: drafting, summarising, cleaning data, generating first-pass designs, editing video. That skill is billable right now, to people who cannot do it themselves.

3. Video editing

Look at the Nollywood shelf on this site. Every one of those actors running a channel needs an editor. Every church, every small brand, every campus event needs an editor. It is the least glamorous skill on this list and the one most likely to pay your rent before you graduate.

The thing that actually matters

Pick one. Give it ninety days. Produce five real pieces of work — not certificates, work — and put them where someone can see them. The people who struggle are almost never the people who lacked talent. They are the people who started four things.
