Mark Angel, born in 1991 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is the Nigerian comedian, scriptwriter and producer behind Mark Angel Comedy. He turned to independent filmmaking in 2013 and built a YouTube series of short sketches shot on ordinary streets and in family compounds, featuring young performers including Emmanuella Samuel. In 2017 the channel passed one million subscribers, a first for a Nigerian comedy channel, and its reach has kept growing since.
