Burning Spear is the stage name of Winston Rodney, born in Saint Ann's Bay, Jamaica, and one of the most respected roots reggae artists of all time. Fellow Saint Ann native Bob Marley pointed him to Studio One, where his first single appeared in 1969. His 1975 album Marcus Garvey is a landmark of roots reggae.
