DRAFT — pending legal counsel review. This is a working draft prepared by the CelebIsland team. It has not been reviewed by qualified legal counsel, is not final, and may change. Items marked [COUNSEL TO CONFIRM] are open questions for counsel.

1. Minimum ages

  • You must be at least 16 to create a CelebIsland account (as stated in the current Terms of Service).
  • You must be at least 18 to use Dating, the Wallet, Pro, payouts, and any creator monetisation.
  • [COUNSEL TO CONFIRM: whether 16 is the correct minimum under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the Child's Rights Act 2003, and whether parental consent is required for users under 18 in any jurisdiction we serve.]

2. Accounts that are under age

If we learn that an account belongs to someone under the minimum age, we will disable it and delete the personal data we hold about them, except where we must keep it for safety or legal reasons. Anyone can report a suspected under-age account through the Report option or Contact us.

3. Protections for users aged 16–17

  • Default settings designed for younger users: restricted messaging from adults they do not follow, and reduced discoverability. [COUNSEL TO CONFIRM and engineering to implement: exact defaults.]
  • No restricted-category advertising (see the Advertising Policy).
  • No access to Dating, adult content, betting-style features or paid prize games.

4. Child safety — zero tolerance

  • Any content that sexualises or exploits a child is removed immediately, the account is banned, and the matter is reported to law enforcement and appropriate child-protection organisations.
  • Grooming behaviour — adults seeking sexual contact with minors, requesting images, or attempting to move conversations off-platform — leads to a permanent ban and a report.
  • [COUNSEL TO CONFIRM: mandatory reporting channels in Nigeria and internationally.]

5. Education features

Where schools, academies or educators use CelebIsland's education features with learners under 18, the Education Policy also applies, including additional safeguarding requirements for educators.

6. Parents and guardians

Parents or guardians who are concerned about a young person's account can contact us. We will verify the request and help, which may include removing the account.

7. Data about young users

We collect only what we need to run the service, we do not sell young users' data, and we do not use it for targeted advertising based on sensitive characteristics. See the Privacy Policy.
