Put on any ten Nigerian records from this year and count how many are built on a log drum.

The records travel further than ever. The numbers are enormous. But there is a version of Afrobeats now that could have been made in any studio on earth by anybody.

So did we trade our signature for a passport? Or is this just what a living music does, and people will be nostalgic for this exact era in ten years?
