Hakeem Abdul Olajuwon was born in Lagos in 1963 and moved to the United States to play college basketball at Houston. He became a naturalized American citizen in 1993. Playing center for the Houston Rockets, he won NBA championships in 1994 and 1995 and the 1994 Most Valuable Player award. He entered the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.
