An open call to every Nigerian campus. Bring your department, your crew, your show, your business. There is a place for all of it here, and it is free.
There is a version of student life that never makes it off campus.
The producer in a hostel room in Nsukka with forty beats nobody has heard. The comedy skit crew in Ekpoma who fill a lecture hall every Friday and have never been booked outside it. The final year student in Zaria running a small business off WhatsApp because there is nowhere better. The department that throws the best party of the year and has no way to sell a ticket.
All of that talent is real, and almost all of it stops at the school gate.
What Campus on CelebIsland is
Campus is where a Nigerian student gets the same tools a signed artist gets, at no cost.
A page for your crew, your department or your business. Not a personal profile. A real page with a cover, a following, and posts that reach beyond the people who already know you.
Live radio and live video. Run a show from your room. No studio, no licence, no gatekeeper deciding whether your idea deserves airtime.
A marketplace. Sell directly. Tickets, merchandise, beats, design work, whatever you make. Nobody stands between you and the person buying.
Creator payouts and premium content. If people value what you do, they can pay you for it on purpose rather than promising to.
Campus, the learning side. Security, governance and compliance material written for Nigeria, against Nigerian law, in plain language. Not translated from somewhere else. Written here.
Why this matters more than it sounds
A graduate in Lagos and a graduate in Lagos, Nebraska are equally intelligent. Only one of them leaves school having touched the tools the industry actually uses this year.
That gap is not about talent. It never was. It is about access, and access is a thing that can be handed over rather than waited for.
So we are handing it over.
What we are asking
Claim your campus. Create a page for your school, your department, your crew or your business, and put the school name in it so people can find it.
Post something this week. One thing. A beat, a skit, a photo set, a notice about your event.
Reply to somebody else. This is the one that actually matters. A platform is not its member count, it is its conversations, and being the first reply on a quiet post is the most useful thing anybody can do here.
Campus ambassadors
We are looking for one person per school to hold it together: post the notices, welcome new students, tell us what is broken.
It is not a job and we will not pretend it is. It is a named role on the platform, a credential with your name on it, a written reference, and a direct line to the people building this. If that is worth your time, say so in the comments or send a message to this page with your school and what you already run.
We will publish how many campuses join, by state, and we will publish it whether or not the number flatters us.
Published by the CelebIsland Editorial Desk. Campus is free and will stay free for students.
Know one person this would help?
Send it to them. That is the whole ask. One person, today.
Then tell us what we got wrong in the comments. We publish corrections, and we publish the numbers even when they embarrass us.
